Kharif 2026 Sowing Reaches 46 Per Cent of Target by July 6, Agriculture Department Releases Latest Progress Report
The Agriculture Department has released the latest Kharif 2026 sowing data, showing that 46 per cent of the overall sowing target had been achieved by July 6. Food grains, pulses, oilseeds, sugarcane, cotton, and cowpea have recorded varying levels of progress, providing an official update on crop-wise cultivation during the ongoing agricultural season.
According to the department, food grain sowing has reached 48 per cent of the prescribed target. Pulse cultivation has achieved 46 per cent of the target, while oilseed sowing has reached 50 per cent, indicating steady progress across major crop categories.
The report further shows that sugarcane cultivation has recorded the highest progress, with 81 per cent of the sowing target already completed. Cotton sowing has also advanced significantly, reaching 71 per cent of the target during the same period.
Among pulse crops, cowpea has registered strong progress, with 68 per cent of the sowing target completed by July 6, according to the Agriculture Department's latest assessment.
The latest sowing figures reflect the current pace of agricultural activity for the Kharif 2026 season and provide an official snapshot of crop-wise cultivation progress against the targets set by the Agriculture Department.
