In a social media post, Dr Jaishankar said the prestigious honour reflects Prime Minister Modi’s steadfast efforts to deepen the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and enhance cooperation between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Instituted in 1959, the ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’, also known as the Star of the Republic of Indonesia, is the highest civilian honour of Indonesia. The award is presented to individuals who have rendered outstanding service towards the unity, continuity, and prosperity of the Republic of Indonesia.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being conferred Indonesia’s highest civilian honour. He said the recognition represents a resounding acknowledgment of Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, transformative statesmanship, and commitment to advancing India’s national interests while building global partnerships based on mutual trust, respect, and shared progress.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated Prime Minister Modi on receiving the prestigious Indonesian honour and described it as a proud moment for the nation.
Mr Pradhan said India and Indonesia have maintained a historic relationship rooted in ancient maritime connections and strengthened through a dynamic contemporary partnership based on trust, mutual respect, and expanding cooperation. He added that Indonesia, as a key partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, remains central to India’s vision of a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
The conferment of Indonesia’s highest civilian honour on Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlights the enduring strength of India-Indonesia relations and reflects the growing cooperation between the two nations across strategic and regional platforms.
