Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed Dutta's arrest on Tuesday. He clarified that Dutta has no connection with the Bharatiya Janata Party despite media reports identifying him as a party youth leader. The Chief Minister also assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the road rage incident.
Police have launched an investigation into the case following the circulation of the dashcam video. While Abhilash Dutta has been arrested, the search for the other accused, Apurba Sinha and Mirin Talukdar, is continuing as the investigation progresses.
