Addressing participants during the "Cycling by the Sea" event organised by the Sports Authority of India under the Fit India Movement, Mandaviya described cycling as an essential component of a healthy lifestyle and urged people to make it a regular habit.
The cycling rally was conducted from Chacka Industrial Training Institute to Shanghumukham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram. Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said cycling not only promotes good health but also contributes to reducing pollution, easing traffic congestion and conserving fuel.
Highlighting the "Sundays on Cycle" initiative under the Fit India Movement, Mandaviya said the programme, which began with only 200 locations, has now expanded to 10,000 locations across the country, with nearly 200,000 people participating. He congratulated children and young people who have actively taken part in the initiative.
