At the National Drone Summit 2026 held in New Delhi, Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha Member Tarun Chugh stated that drone technology holds the potential to fundamentally transform rural India, agriculture, and the lives of the country’s youth.
Addressing the summit as Chief Guest, Tarun Chugh said India today stands as a strong global power and that drones are no longer limited to being a modern technological innovation. He described them as an effective instrument for making agriculture more scientific, strengthening the rural economy, and generating new opportunities for young people across the country. He emphasised that the true objective of development would only be achieved when the benefits of modern technology reach every village.
He highlighted that the use of drones in agriculture can significantly transform farming practices through crop monitoring, precision spraying of fertilisers and pesticides, and reduction of operational costs. According to him, these advancements would enhance agricultural productivity, ensure optimal resource utilisation, and make farming more modern, efficient, and profitable.
Focusing on youth empowerment, he said that India’s young population is its greatest strength. He underlined that skill development and specialised training in drone technology can create large-scale opportunities for both employment and self-employment. He added that technology becomes meaningful only when it enables youth to become self-reliant and drives positive change in their lives.
He further noted that cooperation has historically been a strong pillar of India’s development journey and stressed the need to integrate it with advanced technology. Such integration, he said, can help extend modern technological solutions to rural areas, empower farmers, and generate new economic opportunities at the grassroots level.
Expanding on wider applications, Chugh stated that drone technology extends beyond agriculture into disaster management, healthcare, infrastructure development, security, logistics, and public service delivery. He emphasised that India must strengthen its global position by encouraging innovation and expanding skill development across these sectors.
Concluding his address, he said that the synergy between technology and cooperative frameworks will play a decisive role in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to the summit theme “From Policy to Prosperity,” he said it represents not just a conference theme but a practical roadmap for national development, prioritising the delivery of technological benefits to the last mile.
He also congratulated Drone Tech Multi-State Cooperative Society Limited and the National Skill Development Corporation for successfully organising the summit, expressing confidence that such initiatives will provide new direction to India’s drone ecosystem, empower youth, and accelerate rural development.
The National Drone Summit 2026 was organised as an initiative by Dr Deep Sihag Sisai, Founder and Chairman of Drone Tech Multi-State Cooperative Society Limited, in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation at The Leela Palace, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. Conducted under the theme “From Policy to Prosperity,” the summit brought together representatives from government, industry, cooperative institutions, agriculture, startups, and rural stakeholders.
The summit concluded with the launch of three major national initiatives aimed at strengthening India’s cooperative drone ecosystem: the Drone Tech Multi-State Cooperative Society Limited as the country’s first sector-focused multi-state cooperative for the drone industry; the National Mission One Panchayat One Drone Entrepreneur programme, aimed at developing drone entrepreneurs across two hundred thousand agriculture-based panchayats over the next five years; and the establishment of 75 Advanced Skill Centres designed to equip youth with industry-ready skills in drone technology and other emerging technologies.
