116-Year-Old Devotee Creates History with Trek and VIP Darshan at Tirumala
A 116-year-old devotee from Tamil Nadu trekked 9 km via the Alipiri footpath to Tirumala, inspiring authorities to arrange a VIP darshan at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. She was honoured with silk shawl, prasadam, and blessings, while officials and leaders, including the Chief Minister, praised her unwavering devotion and determination.
The centenarian devotee completed the arduous uphill journey with the support of her family, drawing widespread attention after a video capturing her resolve circulated and prompted immediate intervention by temple authorities. In response, officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams arranged a dedicated VIP darshan for her at the sacred hill shrine.
During the special darshan, temple officials honoured her with blessings, a silk shawl, and prasadam, acknowledging her unwavering faith and extraordinary endurance at an age rarely associated with such physically demanding pilgrimage. The Executive Officer of the temple body also bowed before her in a gesture of respect and sought her blessings.
Her grandson expressed heartfelt gratitude to the authorities for facilitating the special arrangements and recognizing her devotion. The incident also drew public appreciation from political leadership, including Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu N. Chandrababu Naidu, who praised her exceptional willpower and dedication.
