BHEL and thyssenkrupp nucera India Sign Strategic Agreement to Boost Indigenous Green Hydrogen Manufacturing

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and thyssenkrupp nucera India Private Limited have signed a strategic agreement to enable phased indigenisation and local manufacturing of alkaline electrolyser systems for green hydrogen projects. The partnership strengthens BHEL's clean energy capabilities and supports the National Green Hydrogen Mission and the Make in India initiative.

 

India's clean energy ambitions received a significant boost as Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and thyssenkrupp nucera India Private Limited signed a strategic agreement to enable the phased indigenisation and local manufacturing of alkaline electrolyser systems for green hydrogen projects across the country. The collaboration is expected to strengthen BHEL's project execution capabilities for green hydrogen initiatives and accelerate the development of domestic manufacturing capacity in the sector.
The agreement was signed on behalf of BHEL by Y. Srinivasa Rao, Executive Director, Heavy Power Equipment Plant, and Sutrupto De, General Manager and Head, New and Renewable Energy Business. Representing thyssenkrupp nucera India Private Limited, the agreement was signed by Kiran Joseph, Chief Executive Officer, and Manish Bhosale, Director, Business Development and Sales.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Philipp Ackermann, Ambassador of Germany to India and Bhutan, Bani Verma, Director, Industrial Systems and Products, BHEL, S. M. Ramnathan, Director, Engineering, Research and Development, BHEL, along with other senior officials.
BHEL is one of India's leading engineering and manufacturing companies with decades of experience across the power, transmission, renewable energy, oil and gas, transportation, defence, and aerospace sectors. The company has played a vital role in building India's industrial infrastructure and is now leveraging its engineering, manufacturing, and project execution capabilities to expand into emerging clean energy segments, including green hydrogen.
The strategic agreement marks an important step in strengthening BHEL's contribution to the National Green Hydrogen Mission and the Government of India's Make in India initiative. By promoting phased localisation and indigenous manufacturing of alkaline electrolyser systems, the partnership is expected to support the growth of India's green hydrogen ecosystem and reinforce the country's transition towards clean energy.
