Dead Cattle Videos From Pratapgarh Cow Shelter Raise Serious Questions Over Management

The viral visuals reportedly show several cattle in a weak and distressed condition. Local residents have alleged that the shelter lacks adequate arrangements for fodder, dry grass, clean drinking water, and timely veterinary care. According to the residents, these shortcomings have allegedly resulted in repeated deaths of cattle at the facility.

The issue has triggered anger among local residents, with demands for an impartial investigation into the condition of the shelter. Questions are also being raised over the funds provided by the government for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the cow shelter.

Residents have demanded that details of the funds received and the expenditure incurred for the facility should be made public. They have questioned who would be held responsible if the alleged conditions at the shelter are found to be true.

Patti Sub-Divisional Magistrate Purnendra Mishra said that a complaint has been received regarding the matter and an investigation is underway. He added that if the allegations are found to be correct during the inquiry, departmental action will be taken against the concerned department as per rules.

The actual situation at the Kanha Cow Shelter will become clear only after the completion of the administrative investigation. The outcome of the inquiry will determine accountability for the alleged lapses in the management and maintenance of the facility.
