Heavy Rainfall Batters Three Rajasthan Districts as Monsoon Distribution Remains Uneven Across the State
The first week of July brought exceptionally heavy rainfall to Bikaner, Churu, and Didwana-Kuchaman, while rainfall remained uneven across Rajasthan. Official Water Resources Department data shows several districts received above-normal precipitation, others recorded near-normal rainfall, and multiple districts continued to face a rainfall deficit of up to 59 percent.
The department's data showed that Ajmer, Balotra, Beawar, Chittorgarh, Sri Ganganagar, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Pratapgarh, Salumber, Sikar, and Tonk received rainfall ranging from 20 percent to 59 percent above the seasonal normal during the reporting period.
Meanwhile, Alwar, Baran, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Dausa, Deeg, Dholpur, Jalore, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kota, Kotputli-Behror, Phalodi, Rajsamand, Sirohi, and Udaipur recorded rainfall within 19 percent above or 19 percent below the normal level, indicating near-normal monsoon conditions.
In contrast, Banswara, Dungarpur, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Karauli, Khairthal-Tijara, Pali, and Sawai Madhopur experienced rainfall up to 59 percent below normal, highlighting a substantial precipitation deficit during the first week of July.
The latest figures released by the Water Resources Department underline the uneven progress of the monsoon across Rajasthan, with exceptionally heavy rainfall concentrated in a few districts while several others continue to await adequate precipitation, reflecting the wide regional variation in rainfall distribution across the state.
