Cockroach Janata Party Founder Targets Modi Government Over Border Security and Protests
CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke has accused the Modi government of risking national security, while opposition leaders Jairam Ramesh and Priyanka Chaturvedi question its China policy and response to border tensions in Arunachal Pradesh.
Deepke’s remarks came after Congress MP Jairam Ramesh questioned the central government over the border dispute with China. Ramesh alleged that the government was making concessions to China and maintaining silence over the ongoing tensions along the border in Arunachal Pradesh. He claimed that India had lost access to certain locations where its forces had been conducting patrols in the state.
The Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) recently praised the force’s performance during confrontations with the Chinese military’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Arunachal Pradesh. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government have not responded to the issue, according to the allegations raised by opposition leaders.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi also sought answers from the central government over India’s relations with China and border security. She said the Union Home Minister, Defence Minister and External Affairs Minister had a responsibility to clarify the situation on questions concerning the country’s security.
Chaturvedi pointed to what she described as a contradiction between statements about normalising relations with China and repeated remarks that raise questions about the actual situation along the border. She stressed that the issue concerns national security, sensitive interests and the broader national interest, making accountability among those responsible essential.
Ramesh also accused Prime Minister Modi of adopting a soft approach towards China. He reiterated that the ITBP Director General had praised Indian forces for their performance during recent face-offs with the PLA in Arunachal Pradesh, while the Prime Minister and his colleagues had maintained silence on the matter.
The statements by Deepke, Ramesh and Chaturvedi have brought renewed attention to the central government’s China policy, the reported border tensions in Arunachal Pradesh and the deployment of security forces to manage domestic protests. The opposition leaders are demanding answers from the government on both border security and its handling of peaceful demonstrations.
