Axis Bank Lakshya Shooting Club Opens High Performance Centre in Navi Mumbai
Axis Bank Lakshya Shooting Club has inaugurated a six-storey High Performance Centre in CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai, featuring advanced shooting ranges, sports science, medical support and inclusive training programmes for India's elite and emerging shooters.
The centre will bring together training, sports science, nutrition, medical support and the overall development of athletes under one roof. It will also provide world-class training and coaching to India’s leading shooters as they prepare to improve their performances at the Olympic level.
The six-storey facility features two dedicated 10-metre shooting ranges, strength and physical conditioning facilities, biomechanics assessment, physiotherapy, sports psychology, nutritional support, specialised recovery spaces and accommodation for athletes.
The High Performance Centre has introduced three programmes for athlete development: Elite Residency, Day Scholar and Development. These programmes are designed to provide facilities suited to athletes at different stages of their training and careers.
The centre will primarily focus on elite athletes preparing for international competitions, while Lakshya’s other centres will continue to identify and nurture emerging shooting talent.
Lakshya Shooting Club was established in 2006 by Indian Olympian and former national shooting coach Suma Shirur. Over the past two decades, the club has worked to identify shooting talent across the country and help athletes progress in the sport.
Its athletes have achieved success at national and international competitions, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships.
Among them is Avani Lekhara, who won three Paralympic medals, including gold medals at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Parth Mane won the junior world champion title in 2024 and secured a silver medal in a team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Speaking at the inauguration, Vijay Mulbagal, Group Head of Wholesale Banking Coverage, Corporate Salary, Sustainability and CSR at Axis Bank, said shooting has been one of India’s most successful Olympic sports and a major source of national pride.
He said Indian shooters were making their mark internationally, but significant potential remained to achieve even greater success. Through its partnership with Lakshya Shooting Club, Axis Bank is committed to providing emerging and elite athletes with world-class infrastructure, coaching and technical support.
Mulbagal said the objective was to create an environment where talent could progress, champions could be developed and Indian shooting could reach new heights.
Suma Shirur, founder and High Performance Director of Lakshya Shooting Club, said it had been deeply satisfying to see athletes who had worked with the organisation over the years win Paralympic gold medals and world titles. These achievements, she said, had strengthened the club’s belief that talent requires the right environment and facilities to flourish.
The inauguration of the six-storey centre marks a further step in Lakshya Shooting Club’s efforts to support athletes at different stages of their careers while strengthening specialised training and preparation for international competitions
