Northern Railway Plans Over 6,200 Special Train Trips for Festive Season

Northern Railway plans over 6,200 special train trips for the festive season, nearly 30% more than last year. Check the key routes, including Delhi–Patna, Amritsar–Barauni and Delhi–Kamakhya, and details of 42 newly regularised trains.

Northern Railway plans to operate more than 6,200 special train trips this festive season to accommodate the expected surge in passenger traffic, marking an increase of nearly 30% compared with the 4,666 trips operated during the same period last year. The railway has also expanded its regular services to improve connectivity on major routes during the festive rush.

According to Northern Railway, 42 new trains have been made regular this year, and these services are expected to operate around 2,600 trips during the festive period. In addition, 3,600 special train trips have already been announced to meet the growing demand for travel during the festivals.

The expanded arrangements are aimed at accommodating the increase in passenger numbers and reducing congestion on key railway routes. Northern Railway said the additional services are intended to provide passengers with convenient, comfortable and safe travel during the festive season.

Special train services will operate on several important routes, including Delhi–Patna Vande Bharat, Shakurbasti–Darbhanga, Mata Vaishno Devi–Varanasi, Chandigarh–Patna, Anand Vihar–Patliputra and New Delhi–Howrah. These routes form part of the railway's broader arrangements to manage passenger demand during the festive period.
