Delhi Police Deny Permission for Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 Concert Over Security Concerns
Delhi Police have denied permission for Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium over security concerns. The decision comes after the show was rescheduled from November 1, leaving the Delhi leg of his Aura Tour uncertain.
The concert was scheduled to take place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30. According to Delhi Police sources, permission for the show was not granted due to security-related concerns. The organisers have not yet provided any information about a revised schedule or an alternative venue following the decision.
The concert was initially scheduled for November 1. However, it was moved to October 30 due to sensitivities surrounding the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The show has now been postponed following the denial of permission.
On September 24, Dosanjh had also spoken about his upcoming concert scheduled for November 21 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He said that the world’s largest stadium was in India and that a foreign band had performed to a houseful audience there. He added that if India had such a large stadium, Punjabis should also perform at the venue.
Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Aura World Tour’ has been planned to bring the music and energy of his live performances to audiences across India. Following the Delhi show, the tour is scheduled to cover Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
Dosanjh is scheduled to perform on November 15 at C21 Estate in Indore, November 21 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, November 27 at Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai, and November 29 at NICE Grounds in Bengaluru. Another performance is scheduled for December 5 in Chandigarh, with the venue yet to be announced (TBA). BookMyShow Live is co-producing and promoting the tour.
Dosanjh began his music career with Punjabi albums and has built a following through songs such as ‘Born to Shine’, ‘G.O.A.T.’, ‘Patiala Peg’, ‘Lover’, ‘Kinni Kinni’, ‘Do You Know’, ‘Laembadgini’, ‘Proper Patola’, ‘Ishq Di Baajiyan’, ‘Jind Mahi’ and ‘Panj Tara’. Alongside music, he has established a distinct presence in Punjabi and Hindi cinema.
In 2024, his ‘Dil-Luminati Tour’ further expanded the popularity of his concerts worldwide. During that tour, his show at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, was sold out.
The denial of permission for the Delhi concert has disrupted the planned opening of Dosanjh’s ‘Aura Tour’ in the capital. While the organisers have yet to announce a revised plan for the Delhi show, his other scheduled performances across India remain part of the announced tour itinerary.
