Nurse Lavanya Hacked to Death at Bantwal Bus Stand; Accused Arrested After Alleged One-Sided Obsession

A 21-year-old nurse, Lavanya, was hacked to death at the BC Road bus stand in Bantwal, Karnataka, after allegedly being attacked by 22-year-old Chetan, who police say was driven by a one-sided obsession despite her repeated rejections. He was arrested after allegedly consuming rat poison, while the incident has renewed demands for stronger women's safety measures.

 

A 21-year-old nurse, Lavanya, from Kodange was hacked to death on Thursday evening at the BC Road bus stand in Bantwal, Karnataka, while returning home from work. The brutal attack has sparked renewed concerns over women's safety following similar recent incidents reported in the area.

According to the details provided, the accused, 22-year-old Chetan, allegedly followed Lavanya after she got off a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus at the BC Road bus stand. He then repeatedly attacked her with a machete, inflicting fatal injuries in a shocking act of violence at the public transport hub.

Lavanya was rushed to Bantwal Government Hospital following the attack. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Police arrested Chetan on Friday after he allegedly consumed rat poison. Investigators stated that the accused was driven by a one-sided obsession despite Lavanya repeatedly rejecting him. The case is being treated as a fatal attack linked to his alleged refusal to accept her rejection.
