Panchna Dam Canal Water Release After Two Decades, Repaired Sluice Gates Set to Restore Flow
Panchna Dam in Karauli is set to release water into its canals after nearly 20 years. Collector Akshay Godara, Water Resources officials, farmer representatives, and Panchna Struggle Committee members will witness the opening of repaired sluice gates restored after a Rs 24 lakh repair project by Mumbai technical experts.
Karauli: In a special report by First India correspondent Manoj Jain, the Panchna Dam canal water release issue has reached a crucial stage with the administration preparing to open the sluice gates and release water into the dam canals.
Karauli Collector Akshay Godara and Water Resources Department officials will remain present during the water release process. Representatives of farmers from the command area and members of the Panchna Struggle Committee will also attend the event.
The canal water release had remained stalled in recent days due to technical faults in the dam gates. To resolve the issue, an expert technical team from Mumbai carried out repair work on the gates at a cost of Rs 24 lakh.
The repair process included replacement and correction of rod plates, coupling components, and socket fittings. After the completion of these technical improvements, the sluice gates have been restored and are now ready for operation.
The opening of the Panchna Dam canals after a gap of around two decades is being closely watched by local farmers, administration officials, and members of the Panchna Struggle Committee. The restoration of the water flow marks a significant development in the long-pending canal water release matter.
