The dispute escalated after a man filed a complaint regarding the messages displayed on the auto-rickshaw. Following the complaint, a Police Sub-Inspector contacted Bharat Kumar and allegedly instructed him to remove the slogans immediately, warning that his vehicle could be seized if he failed to comply.

Bharat Kumar, however, refused to remove the messages, asserting that displaying them was his constitutional right and a matter of personal belief. He maintained his position despite the warning of possible administrative action against his vehicle.
The incident soon drew the attention of supporters, including Hindu activists and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who rallied behind Bharat Kumar. They argued that his actions were protected under the constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech and expression and defended his right to publicly display his beliefs.
Critics, however, pointed to legal provisions that prohibit acts capable of outraging religious feelings and questioned whether the slogans could fall within the scope of such laws. Despite the complaint and the ensuing controversy, no First Information Report has been registered in connection with the incident so far.
The case has intensified discussion over the balance between constitutional free speech protections and legal restrictions relating to religious sensitivity. With no First Information Report filed yet, the incident continues to attract public attention as supporters and critics remain divided over the limits of personal expression in public spaces.
