Piyush Tewari Conferred with the 2nd Cheistha Kochhar Good Samaritan Award 2026 for Transforming Road Safety and Trauma Care in India

The Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research, in association with Porter, honoured Shri Piyush Tewari with the 2nd Cheistha Kochhar Good Samaritan Award 2026 at IIT Delhi for his outstanding contribution to road safety, trauma care, the Good Samaritan movement, and the pioneering Zero Fatality Corridor initiative that has significantly reduced highway fatalities across India.

The Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research (C-DEP), in association with Porter, conferred the 2nd Cheistha Kochhar Good Samaritan Award upon Shri Piyush Tewari, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SaveLIFE Foundation, in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to improving road safety, strengthening trauma care, and advancing India's Good Samaritan movement. The award was presented during a special ceremony held at the Research and Innovation Park, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.

The Cheistha Kochhar Good Samaritan Award recognises individuals whose courage, compassion, and dedication to public service reflect the values upheld by Late Cheistha Kochhar. Instituted in 2024 in her memory, the annual honour celebrates individuals who devote themselves to creating lasting social impact. Inspired by Cheistha Kochhar's belief that "what we create should last longer than we do," the award encourages acts of courage, empathy, and selfless public service that leave a meaningful and enduring legacy.

Shri Piyush Tewari established SaveLIFE Foundation following the tragic loss of a family member in a road accident, dedicating his professional life to making India's roads safer. Under his leadership, the organisation has played a pivotal role in strengthening emergency trauma response systems, training citizens and law enforcement personnel, and advocating for India's landmark Good Samaritan legal framework that protects bystanders who voluntarily assist road accident victims.

SaveLIFE Foundation has also pioneered India's Zero Fatality Corridor model under Shri Piyush Tewari's leadership, achieving a reduction of more than 50 per cent in fatalities on high-risk highways. The initiative has become a significant milestone in improving road safety and enhancing emergency response across the country.
