Minor Exploitation Video Case: Mohammad Rehan Arrested in Patna After SIT Manhunt Triggered by Viral Allegations in Gaya Ji’s Banke Bazar

According to police officials, technical investigation initially traced the accused’s location to Delhi. Acting on directives issued by Senior Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar, a four-member SIT was constituted under the leadership of Sherghati Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar. The team proceeded towards Delhi to apprehend the accused, however, upon sensing police movement, Mohammad Rehan fled from Delhi to Patna. Based on continued technical monitoring, the SIT successfully tracked and arrested him in Patna.

Prior to the arrest, the case had triggered significant public outrage in Banke Bazar, leading to a complete market shutdown on Thursday. Local residents demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal action in the matter, intensifying pressure on law enforcement agencies.

The case originated in the Banke Bazar police station jurisdiction after an allegedly objectionable video circulated on social media, sparking widespread controversy. Following a complaint filed by the brother of the minor victim, an FIR was registered against Mohammad Rehan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, along with several other serious criminal provisions.

During the investigation, the statement of the minor victim was recorded before a court of law. In parallel, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory collected scientific evidence from the alleged scene of occurrence, while a detailed digital forensic examination of the viral video was also initiated.

Police authorities have confirmed that the investigation is not limited to the role of the prime accused alone. Authorities are also examining the source and chain of circulation of the viral video on social media platforms. Based on technical evidence, investigators are identifying additional individuals who may have played a role in its dissemination.

The arrest of Mohammad Rehan marks a critical development in a case that has drawn strong public reaction, legal scrutiny, and an expanding digital investigation, as authorities continue to pursue every link connected to the circulation of the controversial video.
