Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Confession Claim, Digital Trail, and Rising Evidence Deepen Pune Investigation
The Pune Ketan Agarwal murder investigation deepens as police examine alleged confessions, extensive digital communication records, and coordinated planning claims. Arrested accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary face scrutiny amid claims of conspiracy, relationship disputes, and forensic analysis of deleted data and call records.
Ketan Agarwal, a real estate entrepreneur, died on June 18 after falling from a hillside near the iconic Lohagad Fort in Lonavala. The initial assessment treated the incident as an accident. However, as the investigation progressed, multiple inconsistencies and emerging evidence led law enforcement agencies to suspect foul play, ultimately converting the case into a suspected homicide investigation.
Police arrested Siya Goyal and her close associate Chetan Chaudhary in connection with the case. According to police sources, Siya Goyal allegedly stated during interrogation that she found it extremely difficult to inform her family about calling off her engagement, which reportedly led her to conspire in the murder of her fiancé. Investigators claim this emotional pressure became a central factor in the alleged planning of the crime.
Authorities further allege that Siya Goyal was unwilling to proceed with her arranged marriage to Ketan Agarwal, while being in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary. However, she reportedly lacked the courage to cancel the wedding scheduled for November, which allegedly resulted in both individuals planning the crime together.
In response to the complexity of the case, Pune Rural Police and Lonavala Police have formed six special investigation teams. These teams are conducting an extensive examination of deleted mobile phone data, digital evidence, and the movements of both accused individuals. Officials believe that electronic records may provide a clearer reconstruction of the alleged conspiracy.
Call detail records have emerged as a crucial element in the investigation. According to sources, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary communicated approximately 2,000 times between January and the present, spending a total of around 238 hours in phone conversations. Investigators say this sustained communication pattern strongly indicates continuous coordination between the two accused.
Siya Goyal’s brother, Sahil Goyal, was also questioned for several hours. Police report that he stated Siya and Chetan first met during a cricket match, and their relationship reportedly developed further after they met again at a friend’s Diwali party, after which their contact became regular.
However, the family of Siya Goyal has told investigators that they had never met or spoken to Chetan Chaudhary. Meanwhile, the defense counsel representing Siya Goyal maintains that Chetan was only a friend and insists that the truth will emerge during judicial proceedings.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together digital, testimonial, and circumstantial evidence in what has become one of the most closely watched criminal cases in the region.
