Hyderabad Motorcyclist Seen Riding with Open Laptop on Fuel Tank Sparks Online Outrage Over Work Culture and Road Safety Concerns
A viral video from Hyderabad shows a man riding a motorcycle with an open laptop placed on the fuel tank, captured near Hitex Kaman in the Madhapur IT corridor. The clip sparked debate on unsafe commuting, work pressure, and road safety, drawing strong reactions online and calls for stricter enforcement and corporate responsibility in urban tech workplaces.
The footage shows the rider navigating active traffic while the laptop screen remains illuminated and placed directly in front of him on the motorcycle’s fuel tank. The video quickly spread across social media platforms, where it drew sharp reactions and widespread criticism.
Users online described the incident with phrases such as “Work From Bike” and referred to it as an extreme reflection of modern work culture. The clip prompted discussions on increasing workplace stress and unsafe commuting practices emerging in major technology hubs.
One social media user commented, “He is risking his life and others by driving with the laptop.” Another added, “This is modern-day corporate jobs for you.” A third user stated, “Bro must be working for an IT company as he might be short of clocking 70 hours per week.”
Experts and users highlighted that operating a vehicle while distracted by a laptop can significantly reduce reaction time and increase the risk of severe and potentially fatal road accidents. Calls were made on social media for stricter traffic enforcement and greater corporate accountability to discourage such dangerous behaviour in urban tech centres.
This is not the first such incident reported. In April, an Instagram account identified as @ravi-bhojane shared a video showing a man riding a motorcycle while concentrating on a laptop placed in front of him. In another separate video, a woman was seen working on a laptop while travelling as a pillion rider, further intensifying concerns over the normalization of unsafe mobile work practices.
The incident highlights growing concerns over the intersection of professional pressure and road safety, raising urgent questions about commuting behaviour in fast-paced urban employment environments.
