Taking the matter seriously, the Mumbai Police initiated an investigation after a suspect was allegedly found distributing tablets during the Muharram procession. According to an official police statement, officers from Byculla Police Station detained the suspect at the scene. During questioning, the accused claimed that the tablets were pain relief medication and insisted that there was no malicious intent behind their distribution.
Meanwhile, one individual reportedly consumed one of the tablets and subsequently experienced vomiting and uneasiness. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police acted immediately and detained the suspect before a larger quantity of the tablets could be distributed among the public. According to the police, the condition of the individual who consumed the tablet is now stable and he is out of danger.
Mumbai Police stated that, based on the victim's complaint, a case has been registered at Byculla Police Station under Section 123 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The recovered tablets have been sent for examination to determine their exact nature. Police officials said that a detailed investigation is continuing and that every aspect of the incident is being thoroughly examined.
