Mandi Administration Intensifies Anti-Drug Campaign, Villagers Pledge to Build a Drug-Free Community
The Mandi District Administration intensified its anti-drug campaign by organising a major awareness programme in Gohra Gagal Village Council under the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Officials, local representatives and residents pledged collective action to eliminate substance abuse and build a completely drug-free community through public participation.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Gurusimar Singh attended the programme as the chief guest and administered an oath to the villagers, urging them to actively participate in the collective campaign against substance abuse. He emphasised that the battle against drugs cannot be won solely through legal enforcement and requires the active involvement of every section of society.
Addressing the gathering, Gurusimar Singh said that families, village councils, educational institutions, youth and citizens must unite to eliminate the social menace of drug abuse. He urged residents to begin the campaign from their own homes and villages while encouraging young people to engage in constructive and positive activities.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner stated that the Himachal Pradesh Government remains firmly committed to building a safe and drug-free state. He said strict action is being taken against drug trafficking networks under the ongoing special campaign, while extensive awareness programmes are being organised to educate people about the harmful consequences of substance abuse and encourage their participation in the social movement.
During the programme, all participants pledged to stay away from drugs and play an active role in making their families, villages and society free from substance abuse. Representatives of the village council and local residents also collectively resolved to transform Gohra Gagal Village Council into a completely drug-free community.
District Development Officer Gopi Chand Pathak, Block Development Officer Balh, Chairperson of the Sadar Block Council Sohan Singh, Village Council Head Anil Kumar, Deputy Village Council Head Jagdish Kumar, elected village council members and a large number of local residents were present on the occasion.
The awareness programme marked another significant step in the Mandi District Administration's sustained campaign to strengthen community participation against substance abuse, reinforcing the message that lasting success in eliminating drug abuse depends on collective social responsibility alongside strict enforcement measures.
