INS Sudarshini Reaches Baltimore During Landmark Transoceanic Expedition, Strengthening India-US Maritime Ties
INS Sudarshini has arrived at the Port of Baltimore, Maryland, as part of the landmark Lokayan 26 transoceanic expedition after sailing more than 13,000 nautical miles from Kochi. The visit strengthens India-US maritime cooperation, showcases India's rich seafaring heritage, and supports the Sail250 celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
According to the Ministry of Defence, INS Sudarshini's visit to Baltimore forms a key part of the maritime engagement programme ahead of the Sail250 Maryland celebrations, which will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. During its stay, the vessel will participate in a series of maritime engagement and community outreach activities.
Before reaching Baltimore, INS Sudarshini represented India at the Sail250 Virginia celebrations held in Norfolk. The ship took part in the prestigious Parade of Sail and the City Crew Parade, showcasing India's maritime traditions on the international stage.
The Ministry of Defence stated that the vessel has sailed more than 13,000 nautical miles over the past five months, travelling from Kochi to Norfolk. The transoceanic voyage stands as a testament to India's longstanding seafaring traditions and reflects the spirit of the world as one family, promoting friendship, cooperation, and mutual trust across the oceans.
The successful arrival of INS Sudarshini in Baltimore marks another significant milestone in India's maritime diplomacy, highlighting the country's commitment to strengthening international naval partnerships while celebrating its historic maritime legacy through global engagement.
