Rubio stated that India has become an indispensable partner for the United States and emphasized that the relationship between the two leaders "couldn't be closer." He said the Trump administration holds Prime Minister Modi in high regard and expressed admiration for his leadership and achievements.
"We are enormous fans of Prime Minister Modi and what he's done," Rubio said, adding that under Modi's leadership, India has achieved remarkable economic progress and emerged as a global power with an increasingly important role in international decision-making.
Highlighting the growing strategic partnership between New Delhi and Washington, Rubio said India's expanding global influence has further strengthened bilateral relations. He noted that shared values and common interests have created a solid foundation for deeper cooperation across several critical sectors.
Describing the democratic values shared by both nations, Rubio said, "These are the largest democracies in the world and the oldest democracy in the world. I think we have so much aligned and in common that we can build and work on together."
The United States Secretary of State also pointed to expanding cooperation between the two countries in areas including economic development, supply chains, critical minerals, energy, security, and freedom of navigation. He said these sectors continue to reinforce the strategic partnership between India and the United States.
Rubio further acknowledged the contribution of the Indian American community, describing it as another important link between the two countries. He said the community has enriched the United States in numerous ways while playing a significant role in strengthening India-United States relations.
