Delhi Plans Direct AC Bus Service to Noida International Airport as Major NCR Connectivity Projects Advance

Delhi is planning a direct air-conditioned bus service to Noida International Airport in Jewar, while the Central Government advances major elevated road projects across the National Capital Region. The initiatives aim to improve airport access, reduce congestion, enable faster travel and strengthen connectivity between Delhi, Noida, Faridabad and surrounding cities.

Travelling between Delhi and Noida International Airport in Jewar could soon become significantly easier, with the Delhi government planning a direct air-conditioned bus service to the airport and the Central Government advancing a series of elevated road projects designed to improve connectivity and reduce travel time across the National Capital Region.

With Noida International Airport expected to cater to passengers from across the region, authorities are focusing on strengthening public transport infrastructure and road connectivity to ensure seamless access. The initiative is aimed not only at facilitating airport travel but also at improving daily commuting for thousands of residents across Delhi, Noida, Faridabad and other cities in the National Capital Region.

According to officials of the Delhi Transport Corporation, a direct Delhi-Jewar route is among several new interstate corridors being planned for 12-metre air-conditioned buses. The proposed service is expected to provide a dedicated public transport option for airport-bound passengers while simultaneously benefiting commuters travelling between major urban centres in the region.

Officials stated that route planning has been undertaken after assessing passenger demand, traffic movement and regional connectivity requirements. The objective is to enhance service frequency, reduce travel duration and strengthen last-mile connectivity for commuters and travellers.

The proposed Delhi-Jewar service forms part of a broader expansion of interstate bus connectivity being developed by the Delhi Transport Corporation. Additional routes under consideration include Delhi-Rewari, Delhi-Karnal, Delhi-Rohtak, Delhi-Alwar and the Nanaksar Delhi-Ghaziabad Bus Terminal corridor. Authorities believe these routes will improve transportation links between Delhi and major towns in Haryana and Rajasthan while offering more convenient travel options across the National Capital Region.

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra said that the Central Government and the Delhi Government are working in coordination to make Delhi free from traffic congestion.

Among the projects under discussion is an elevated corridor connecting Sarai Kale Khan and Sohna, an elevated corridor linking Faridabad and Jewar, and a ₹650-crore elevated road project passing through Kalindi Kunj. These developments are expected to strengthen connectivity between Delhi and the rapidly expanding airport region while easing pressure on existing road networks.

The proposed ₹650-crore elevated road through Kalindi Kunj is expected to play a crucial role in improving regional mobility. According to the minister, the project would enable largely signal-free travel between Delhi, Noida and Faridabad. Officials believe the corridor could substantially reduce traffic congestion and shorten travel times for commuters while providing smoother access to the airport region.

The importance of these initiatives is expected to grow as passenger traffic at Noida International Airport increases in the coming years. Authorities view efficient transport connectivity as essential to supporting the airport’s operations and ensuring convenient access for travellers from across the National Capital Region.

A direct air-conditioned bus service would offer an affordable and accessible public transport alternative, while the planned elevated road corridors are expected to make road journeys faster and more efficient. Together, these measures are poised to transform regional connectivity, enhance commuter convenience and support the long-term development of one of India’s most significant emerging aviation hubs.
