Indian National Arrested in Nepal with Narcotic Drugs Concealed in Undergarments; Marijuana Haul Recovered in Separate Case
An Indian national from Uttar Pradesh was arrested in Nepal's Lumbini Province after police allegedly recovered 63.5 grams of brown sugar concealed in his undergarments. In a separate case, authorities seized 104 kilograms of marijuana from a jeep involved in an accident in Koshi Province, with investigations underway in both incidents.
The arrested individual was identified as Mohmad Rijwan, 40, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, India. He was detained in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City after law enforcement personnel conducted a security inspection and allegedly discovered a packet containing narcotic substances hidden inside his undergarments.
According to a statement issued by Nepal Police and cited by PTI, officers recovered 63.5 grams of brown sugar, a narcotic drug, concealed in the packet. Police also seized the motorcycle Rijwan was riding at the time of his arrest.
Authorities have taken the Indian national into custody and launched a detailed investigation into the case. Police have not yet disclosed additional information regarding the source of the narcotics or their intended destination.
In a separate incident, Nepal Police reported the recovery of 104 kilograms of marijuana from a jeep involved in an accident in Koshi Province. According to officials, the driver fled the scene before police personnel arrived.
Law enforcement officers subsequently recovered the contraband from the vehicle and initiated efforts to trace the absconding driver. Authorities have also begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the transportation of the marijuana.
The two incidents underscore Nepal Police's ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and illegal drug transportation across different regions of the country, with investigations continuing in both cases to identify those involved and determine the broader networks linked to the seized contraband.
