India and France Deepen Strategic Partnership with Horizon 2047 Roadmap, Expanding Cooperation Across Critical Sectors
India and France have elevated their strategic partnership following French President Emmanuel Macron’s February 2026 visit to India, as per the MEA. Built on ties since 1998, the cooperation now spans defence, AI, cybersecurity, climate action and more under the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, reinforcing long-term collaboration through 2047. It reflects expanding bilateral cooperation across strategic sectors.
The bilateral relationship has now expanded well beyond its traditional pillars of defence, nuclear energy, and space cooperation. It increasingly includes artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, critical technologies, climate action, Indo-Pacific security, supply chain resilience, and innovation as key areas of collaboration.
The MEA stated that both sides have adopted the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, an ambitious framework designed to guide cooperation over the next 25 years. The roadmap aligns with the centenary of India’s independence and the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
High-level political engagement between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Emmanuel Macron has continued to provide strong momentum to the partnership. Their repeated interactions at forums including the G20, G7, and other multilateral platforms have reinforced shared positions on strategic autonomy and the promotion of a multipolar global order.
Amid rising global uncertainty, India and France have further positioned themselves as trusted strategic partners, with an expanding role in shaping global discourse on security, technology, and sustainable development.
