According to officials, the incident took place on June 5, 2026, within the jurisdiction of Kongawa Police Station in Satna district. The accused allegedly opened fire outside the residence of an Air Force officer using a country-made pistol, discharging five rounds in an attempt to kill him.
Following the incident, Kongawa Police Station registered a case under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Investigators said that after the case was registered, the accused released a video on social media in which they allegedly threatened that their next firing would target police personnel. Shortly thereafter, both men switched off their mobile phones and went into hiding.
During a technical investigation, Madhya Pradesh Police traced information indicating that the accused were travelling in a grey Tata Nexon vehicle bearing registration number MP 19 ZH 7742. Intelligence suggested that they were moving through the jurisdictions of Azad Maidan, MRA, and Cuffe Parade police stations in Mumbai. A team from Satna Police subsequently travelled to Mumbai and coordinated with Cuffe Parade Police to locate the suspects.
Acting on technical surveillance inputs and information received from informants, the Cyber Cell of Cuffe Parade Police tracked the movements of the accused. Both men were detained from the Kala Ghoda area of South Mumbai along with the Tata Nexon vehicle allegedly used in the crime.
After completing the required legal formalities, Mumbai Police handed over the accused to Madhya Pradesh Police. The investigation into the attempted murder case is continuing under the supervision of Satna Police.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in a high-profile criminal investigation involving an attack on an Air Force officer and alleged threats against law enforcement authorities, underscoring the coordinated efforts of police agencies across state boundaries.
