Heroic Response to Delhi Disasters: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Honors Rescue Workers and Announces Compensation for Victims
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta honored rescue workers, police personnel, and citizens who saved lives during a Malviya Nagar hotel fire and Saket Saidulajab building collapse. Held at the Delhi Secretariat, the ceremony included commendation certificates, cash awards, condolences for victims, and compensation announcements for affected families and injured persons with strict transparency directives.
The Chief Minister met the brave individuals during a special programme organized to recognize their extraordinary courage and immediate response during the emergencies. She lauded their selfless actions, stating that they acted without any concern for their own safety and played a crucial role in saving multiple lives during both tragedies. As a mark of appreciation, the honorees were presented with commendation certificates and cheques worth twenty-one thousand rupees each.
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also paid tribute to those who lost their lives in both incidents. She expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and assured them that the government stands firmly with them in this difficult time. She emphasized that the pain of losing a loved one is immeasurable and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to extend all possible support to the affected families.
According to official information issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, financial assistance of ten lakh rupees will be provided to the families of each deceased victim from the two incidents. In addition, injured individuals will receive compensation of two lakh rupees each. The government stated that this assistance aims to provide financial relief and help affected families manage their immediate needs.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the disbursement of compensation and relief funds is carried out within a fixed timeline and with complete transparency. She further instructed that no eligible beneficiary should face any difficulty in receiving assistance.
The event was also attended by Members of the Legislative Assembly Satish Upadhyay and Kartar Singh Tanwar, who joined the Chief Minister in commending the courage of citizens, police personnel, and rescue workers, describing them as true heroes of society.
The ceremony underscored the state government’s recognition of frontline responders and its commitment to accountability, compassion, and timely relief for victims of urban disasters, reinforcing the importance of coordinated emergency response and civic solidarity in times of crisis.
