In his departure statement ahead of a week-long official visit to France and Slovakia, during which he will participate in the summit, Modi said India’s participation at the G7 reflects the confidence of partner nations and the country’s growing global stature. He noted that this marks the eighth consecutive G7 Summit invitation extended to India.
Addressing the significance of India’s role, the Prime Minister said India will use the platform to speak for itself while also amplifying the concerns and aspirations of developing nations across the Global South.
The G7 Summit is scheduled to be held in Evian, France, on June 16 and 17.
Modi expressed confidence that his visits to France and the Slovak Republic would deepen India’s engagement with Europe and the G7 grouping, while also strengthening efforts to broaden international partnerships beyond the continent.
Highlighting bilateral relations, he said France holds a special place in India’s strategic outlook. He also described his upcoming visit to Slovakia as historic, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister since the country’s independence in 1993, and reflecting growing momentum in bilateral ties.
The Prime Minister further announced his participation in the inauguration of “Bharat Innovates” alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice on June 14. The event, held under the India-France Year of Innovation, aims to connect India’s leading start-ups with global investors and accelerate innovation emerging from India’s higher education ecosystem.
Following his engagements in France, Modi will undertake a state visit to Slovakia from June 14 to 15, where he is scheduled to hold talks with President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava and engage with business leaders.
He emphasized that the visit builds on strengthening India–European Union relations, supported by progress in the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement negotiations, with Slovakia playing an important role as a valued member of the Union.
The Prime Minister will later travel to Evian to attend the G7 Summit before concluding his France visit in Paris on June 18. There, he will participate in VivaTech 2026 alongside President Emmanuel Macron. VivaTech is recognized as Europe’s leading technology and innovation gathering, and India will host its largest national pavilion at the event, underscoring the expanding potential of India–Europe innovation cooperation.
He also expressed anticipation of meeting members of the Indian community in Paris, describing them as a vital bridge between India and France.
