Indian Air Force An-32 Crashes During Landing at Jorhat Air Base; Court of Inquiry Ordered

An Indian Air Force An-32 transport aircraft crashed during landing at Rowriah airfield in Jorhat, Assam, home to the 43 Squadron. The aircraft reportedly flipped amid grass and debris. The IAF confirmed the incident, ordered a court of inquiry, and senior officials reached the site as rescue operations continue.

 

An Indian Air Force An-32 transport aircraft crashed during landing on Saturday morning at the Rowriah airfield in Jorhat, Assam, home to the Air Force's 43 Squadron, after the aircraft reportedly flipped amid grass and debris on the airfield.

The Soviet-designed twin-turboprop aircraft, long in service for tactical transport operations across challenging terrain, was found with charred fuselage sections scattered at the crash site following the incident.

The Indian Air Force confirmed the crash and announced the initiation of a formal court of inquiry to determine the circumstances and cause of the accident. Senior officials have reached the airfield to assess the situation and oversee immediate response and evaluation procedures.

At this stage, no official information has been released regarding the condition of the crew. Meanwhile, unverified reports circulating on social media continue to emerge as rescue and recovery operations remain active at the site.
