Mumbai Ghatkopar Horror: Father Throws 9-Month-Old Son Off Skywalk, Baby Dies
A nine-month-old baby died at Sion Hospital after allegedly being thrown off the Ghatkopar railway station skywalk by his father during a domestic dispute. Police have registered a murder case and arrested the accused.
The incident took place on Sunday, when the accused father allegedly lost his temper during an argument with his wife and threw their nine-month-old son from the skywalk. The Ghatkopar police have registered a murder case against the father and arrested him in connection with the incident.
The deceased infant has been identified as Aarav Shaikh, aged nine months. He lived with his mother, Aarti Shaikh (22), and father, Jafar Shaikh (23), in the Sarvodaya Nagar area of Ghatkopar. Jafar Shaikh runs a clothes-selling business in the Ghatkopar area.
Aarti and Jafar had married two years ago. However, over the past few months, Jafar had allegedly developed a drug addiction, which had reportedly become a frequent cause of arguments between the couple.
On Sunday morning, the couple had an argument over the same issue. Later that night, when they were on the skywalk near Ghatkopar railway station, another heated argument broke out between them.
During the altercation, Jafar allegedly forcibly snatched Aarav from Aarti's arms and began walking away. Aarti tried to stop him and attempted to pull the baby back towards her.
However, in a fit of anger, Jafar allegedly threw the nine-month-old infant directly off the skywalk.
Two police personnel who were on patrol at the time of the incident rushed to the spot and found Aarav lying in a pool of blood. They immediately took him to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar for treatment.
The infant had suffered serious injuries to his head and internal organs, leaving his condition critical. Given the severity of his injuries, he was shifted to Sion Hospital for further treatment.
Aarav was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Sion Hospital, where he continued to battle for his life. However, despite treatment, the infant died on Tuesday morning.
Following the incident, the Ghatkopar police registered a murder case against Jafar Shaikh. The accused is currently in police custody, and investigators are conducting a further detailed probe into the case.
