Marco Jansen Tops ICC Test Bowling and Allrounder Rankings as Abhishek Sharma Leads T20Is

Marco Jansen tops the ICC Test bowling and allrounder rankings, while Abhishek Sharma reclaims No. 1 among T20I batters after his 113 against New Zealand. Temba Bavuma, Harry Brook and other stars also climb the latest rankings.

South Africa’s Marco Jansen has risen to the top of the ICC Test bowling and allrounder rankings, while India’s Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the No. 1 position among T20I batters, overtaking team-mate Ishan Kishan in the latest ICC rankings update.

Jansen’s rise follows a strong performance in the ongoing Test series between South Africa and Australia. He has taken ten wickets across the first two Tests while contributing valuable runs with the bat. In the second Test, which South Africa won, Jansen delivered a decisive performance, scoring 85 runs from No. 8 before claiming five wickets for 33 runs to bowl Australia out for 99 in the first innings.

His performances have propelled him to the top of the Test bowling rankings with 876 points. Mitchell Starc, Matt Henry, Ollie Robinson and Jasprit Bumrah have each dropped one position following Jansen’s rise. However, Starc has also taken six wickets in the ongoing third Test, meaning the top positions could change again depending on the remaining action.

Jansen has also climbed to the No. 1 position in the Test allrounder rankings, moving ahead of India’s Ravindra Jadeja, who drops from first to second. Jadeja’s fall is particularly notable because he had held the top position in the allrounders’ rankings for more than four years.

Abhishek smashed 113 off just 38 balls, reaching his century in 35 deliveries, as India chased down a target of 199 to take a 3-0 lead in the five-match series. With Ishan Kishan sidelined by an injury after the first match, Abhishek had an opportunity to return to the top of the rankings. Kishan had overtaken him to claim the No. 1 position in July.

The latest rankings update also reflects significant gains for other players following the South Africa-Australia Test series and the ongoing ODI tri-series in Pakistan.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has climbed four places to No. 2 in the Test batting rankings after his outstanding first-innings knock of 179 in the second Test. Named Player of the Match, Bavuma now sits behind England’s Harry Brook in the rankings.

Brook has also made progress in the ODI batting rankings, moving up six places after scoring 202 against Sri Lanka in the ODI tri-series in Pakistan.

Among Test bowlers, Australia’s Scott Boland has climbed three places to sixth. South Africa’s Simon Harmer has made an even bigger jump, rising 15 places to eighth among Test allrounders following South Africa’s victory in the second Test.

The ODI bowling rankings have also seen movement after recent performances in the tri-series in Pakistan and the UAE. Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi has moved up two places to sixth, while Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai has climbed 13 positions to seventh.

The latest ICC rankings highlight the impact of performances across formats, with Jansen and Abhishek taking the leading positions in their respective categories and several other players making significant gains.
