WPL 2027 Mini Auction Today: 146 Players, ₹8.15 Crore Purse and Kiran Navgire in Focus
The WPL 2027 mini auction takes place in Kochi on Wednesday, with 146 players competing for 27 available slots. Check the 5 PM start time, JioHotstar streaming details, team purses and the players to watch, including Kiran Navgire.
The mini auction will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kochi, with proceedings scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM Indian Standard Time. Fans will be able to watch the auction on JioHotstar.
A total of 146 players are part of the auction pool, including 119 Indian players and 27 overseas players. The Indian contingent comprises 22 capped and 97 uncapped players, while the overseas list features 14 capped and 13 uncapped players. With only 27 slots available across all five franchises, teams can purchase a maximum of 20 Indian players and seven overseas players.
The five franchises collectively have a remaining purse of ₹8.15 crore to complete their squads. UP Warriorz enter the auction with the largest available purse of ₹3.75 crore and can sign up to eight players. Their financial position could give them greater flexibility in bidding for prominent names such as Sophie Molineux and Sophia Dunkley.
Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, have the smallest remaining purse at just ₹90 lakh, with six squad positions to fill. The franchise cannot purchase any overseas players in this auction.
Gujarat Giants have ₹1.25 crore remaining and three slots available, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru have ₹1.15 crore and five slots to fill. Delhi Capitals have ₹1.10 crore left in their purse, with five vacancies remaining.
Four players are expected to draw particular attention during the auction: Sophie Molineux, Sophia Dunkley, Jess Jonassen and India’s Kiran Navgire. Their performances have established them as notable names in women’s cricket, making their availability an important factor for franchises looking to strengthen their squads.
Kiran Navgire, in particular, will be one to watch as teams assess their options for adding power-hitting ability to their line-ups. Which franchise will secure the Indian batter remains a key question heading into the auction.
With ₹8.15 crore available across the five teams and only 27 squad positions to be filled, the WPL 2027 mini auction will be an important opportunity for franchises to address their remaining squad requirements. The bidding for established overseas players and India’s hard-hitting talent will be among the key developments to follow.
