Sonia Gandhi’s Upcoming Book Set to Stir Controversy
Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi has made a significant statement about her upcoming book, titled ‘Belonging: A Journey of Love’. The book is scheduled to be released on November 10.
Sonia Gandhi shared a video clip on X along with a post in which she said that the book would inevitably create a stir when it arrives.
She said that for decades, other people had narrated her story in their own way, but now it was her turn to tell her side. According to Sonia Gandhi, her real story goes far beyond what has been written about her so far.
She also acknowledged that readers could have different reactions to the book but maintained that she would now present her own perspective.
Maharashtra Mahayuti Government Faces Growing Internal Tensions
Meanwhile, tensions within Maharashtra’s Mahayuti government have intensified, with an internal power struggle between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde coming into the open.
Differences have emerged between the BJP and Shinde-led Shiv Sena over power and control within the alliance. Sunetra Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is also seeking to reclaim the Finance Ministry, adding to the tensions.
The BJP is facing pressure over cabinet reshuffles at both the state and central levels.
Recently, Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange released an audio clip in which an allegation was made against Eknath Shinde involving a transaction of Rs 500 crore.
The audio clip has reportedly increased mistrust between the BJP and Shiv Sena. Some people have also suggested that individuals associated with the BJP’s social media operations could be involved in the matter.
The developments have added to the uncertainty within the Mahayuti alliance, which is already dealing with disagreements over ministerial portfolios and political control.
Election Commission Issues Transfer Orders for Officials in Five States
The Election Commission has issued new instructions regarding the transfer of officials involved in election duties in Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the commission’s directives, an official should not remain posted in a district for more than three years. Officials posted in their home districts must also be transferred.
Transfers will also apply to officials who have completed three years of service during the past four years.
For Goa, Manipur, Punjab and Uttarakhand, the period up to March 31, 2027, will be considered for determining the applicable service duration. In Uttar Pradesh, the corresponding cut-off date will be May 31, 2027.
The commission has also clarified that service completed after promotion within the same district will be counted towards the three-year period.
Time spent at the state headquarters may also be included, subject to certain conditions.
The instructions are aimed at ensuring compliance with the commission’s transfer policy for officials assigned to election-related responsibilities ahead of the upcoming polls.
