ICC Rankings Shake-Up: Abhishek Sharma Reclaims No. 1, Marco Jansen Tops Two Charts
Abhishek Sharma reclaims the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 batting rankings after scoring 113 against New Zealand, while Marco Jansen overtakes Ravindra Jadeja to top the Test all-rounder rankings and becomes the No. 1 Test bowler.
Abhishek Sharma played a 113-run innings off just 38 balls in the third T20 match against New Zealand. His outstanding performance helped him return to the top of the T20 batting rankings with a career-high rating of 897.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan has moved to second place, while Ishan Kishan has slipped from the top position to third. Kishan missed two matches during the series against New Zealand, and his absence has affected his position in the rankings.
Indian captain Shreyas Iyer has also suffered a setback in the T20 batting rankings. He has dropped five places to ninth position. Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has entered the top 50 T20 batters following an impressive performance against New Zealand.
Suryavanshi scored a quickfire 45 runs off 19 balls against New Zealand, taking him to 45th place in the rankings. In the T20 bowling rankings, Arshdeep Singh has gained six places to move up to 15th position.
Marco Jansen, meanwhile, has made significant gains in the Test rankings following South Africa’s Test series against Australia. Jansen claimed 10 wickets in two matches, a performance that helped him climb five places to become the world’s No. 1 Test bowler.
Jansen also delivered with the bat against Australia, scoring 198 runs across four innings. His all-round contribution has helped him rise to the top of the Test all-rounder rankings as well, overtaking India’s Ravindra Jadeja to claim the No. 1 position.
The latest ICC rankings update has therefore brought major changes across T20 batting and Test cricket, with Abhishek Sharma returning to the summit of T20 batting and Marco Jansen establishing himself as the leading bowler and all-rounder in Test cricket.
