Raj Thackeray Says Maharashtra Must Give Him Power to Resolve Navi Mumbai’s Civic Issues

Raj Thackeray raises concerns over Navi Mumbai’s worsening traffic congestion and urban planning challenges in Vashi, urging political will, disciplined driving and coordinated efforts by the government, administration, transport operators and citizens.

MNS president Raj Thackeray has called for political power to address Navi Mumbai’s long-standing urban planning and traffic problems, saying that resolving these issues requires political will while accusing the government of remaining inactive despite the growing challenges faced by citizens.

Thackeray made the remarks while addressing citizens in Vashi at an event organised by MNS Transport Sena president Sanjay Naik and general secretary Nitin Khanvilkar. The event featured a modern commercial vehicle exhibition and a gathering of transport operators, which Thackeray inaugurated.

Highlighting the difficulties faced by transport operators, Thackeray assured them that efforts would be made to understand their problems and convey their concerns to the government. However, he also stressed that transport operators must ensure their drivers follow traffic rules.

He said improving the city’s transport system would require coordinated efforts from the government, administration, transport operators and citizens. According to Thackeray, the responsibility for improving traffic conditions cannot rest with any single stakeholder.

Thackeray also raised concerns over the deteriorating traffic situation in cities, alleging that proper planning was being neglected even as congestion continued to become more serious. The increasing number of vehicles, inadequate roads, disorderly parking and violations of traffic rules have disrupted urban traffic management, he said.

Emphasising the need for discipline among all stakeholders, Thackeray said citizens, drivers and the government must follow rules to improve the situation.

He also expressed his eagerness to see Maharashtra place power in his hands so that he could work towards resolving these long-standing issues. His remarks brought the focus back to urban planning, traffic congestion and the need for coordinated action to address the problems affecting residents and transport operators in Navi Mumbai.
