Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme has facilitated 28,833 marriages in 2026-27 against a target of 72,540 couples. Discover the district-wise figures, Rs 1 lakh assistance structure and digital verification measures.
Implemented by the Social Welfare Department, the scheme aims to make the marriages of daughters from financially disadvantaged families more affordable and dignified. Along with financial support for eligible families, mass marriage ceremonies are intended to promote social harmony and equality.
Social Welfare Department Director Sanjeev Singh said the department had received 1,16,668 applications from across Uttar Pradesh so far in 2026-27. Of these, 34,845 applications have been approved, while 11,679 were found ineligible during verification. The scrutiny of applications and the marriage process are continuing based on eligibility criteria.
According to district-wise figures, Hardoi leads the state with 1,385 couples married under the scheme. A total of 1,335 couples have tied the knot in Sitapur, while 1,242 marriages have been conducted in Azamgarh and 1,271 in Pilibhit. These figures reflect the scheme's implementation across different districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Under the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh is provided for each couple's marriage. Of this amount, Rs 64,000 is transferred to the bride's bank account to help establish her new household. Another Rs 21,000 is allocated for wedding gift items, while Rs 15,000 is spent on essential arrangements for the marriage ceremony.
The financial assistance is intended to reduce the economic burden on families during weddings and help eligible beneficiaries begin their married lives with support for setting up a household. The scheme is aimed at enabling economically weaker families to conduct their daughters' marriages with dignity.
The state government is also using digital systems to strengthen transparency in the scheme's implementation. Electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification is in place for applicants, while income and caste certificates are being digitally verified through the e-District portal.
Under the Aadhaar-based payment system, financial assistance is intended to reach eligible beneficiaries through their bank accounts linked to Aadhaar. With 28,833 marriages completed against the annual target of 72,540, the scheme's progress is being reflected in application approvals, eligibility verification and district-level implementation across Uttar Pradesh.
