Onto’s first offering, Price Drop Refund, is designed to support travellers even after they have completed a booking. The company aims to bring a technology-led, customer-focused approach to travel, beginning with hotel reservations and gradually expanding towards a more connected, AI-led travel experience.
The company was founded by Jagdeep Singh and Shubham Goyal, who bring experience from building consumer technology products. The newly raised capital will be used to scale operations, strengthen the company’s technology infrastructure and develop new products as Onto works towards its broader travel platform vision.

Shubham Goyal, Co-founder of Onto, said, “A customer-first platform has technology at its core. The systems should take the complexity away from the user. Refunding the difference when a price drops sounds simple. Doing it for every booking, including ones made elsewhere, means building a system that can recognise any hotel booking, understand it, watch it, and act on your behalf without you lifting a finger. We built that foundation first because the rest of Onto sits on it.”
Through its Price Drop Refund feature, Onto continues to monitor hotel prices after a booking has been made. If the same hotel, room and dates become available at a lower price, the platform automatically refunds the difference. The feature also covers eligible hotel bookings made through other platforms, allowing travellers to bring their existing reservations to Onto and access the same price-drop protection.
Refunds are credited to the original payment method. Travellers receive updates about price changes and refunds through WhatsApp and app notifications, keeping them informed throughout the process without requiring them to monitor hotel rates themselves.
Onto’s app recorded more than 2,000 downloads ahead of its official launch, indicating early interest in its approach to travel bookings. According to the company’s early booking data, almost every booking experienced a price change after it was made, while one in two bookings resulted in an automatic refund to the traveller.
The company has established deeper integrations with multiple hotel suppliers, enabling it to offer bookings across domestic and international destinations from launch. Beyond hotel reservations, Onto plans to expand its services to simplify the wider travel journey and make it more personalised.
Onto is also developing AI-led capabilities intended to understand travellers’ preferences and past travel behaviour, recommend relevant options and explain why those recommendations may suit individual needs. The company aims to reduce the effort involved in making travel decisions without taking those decisions away from travellers, allowing them to retain control over their choices.
