RailTel Secures Rs. 47.40 Crore Haryana LAN Contract as Shares Fall 3.35%
RailTel has secured an estimated Rs. 47.40 crore Haryana government LAN contract through HARTRON, with completion due by April 18, 2028. The order comes as shares fall 3.35%, near their 52-week low of Rs. 240.75.
The development comes as RailTel shares face selling pressure in the stock market. The company's shares were trading at Rs. 242.05, down 3.35%. The stock's 52-week high stands at Rs. 391.00, while its 52-week low is Rs. 240.75. Over the past six months, the stock has delivered a return of -19.89%.
The broader market also traded lower. The Nifty 50 stood at 22,728.10, down 0.70%, while the Sensex fell by 73,473.09, registering a decline of 0.51%.
The Rs. 47.40 crore order, including taxes, has been awarded by HARTRON under a domestic rate-contract arrangement. The project involves the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of structured LAN infrastructure for different Haryana state government departments at various locations across Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi NCR.
Under the agreement, purchase orders will be issued from time to time based on the customer's requirements. RailTel is required to complete the contract by April 18, 2028.
Structured LAN infrastructure enables computers, servers and other connected devices to communicate through an organised network within offices and buildings. The proposed deployment will support the networking requirements of government departments operating across multiple locations.
However, the rate-contract structure is an important consideration when assessing the financial implications of the order. Although the estimated contract value is Rs. 47.40 crore, the entire amount should not automatically be considered revenue already secured or recognised. Actual execution and revenue generation will depend on the purchase orders issued by the customer and RailTel's delivery of the contracted work.
The order adds to RailTel's participation in government technology and digital infrastructure projects, extending its role beyond railway communications into network infrastructure for public-sector customers.
According to the latest quarterly results available on Screener, RailTel Corporation of India's consolidated revenue from operations increased to Rs. 965.74 crore in Q2 FY26, compared with Rs. 862.51 crore in Q2 FY25, representing growth of approximately 12%.
The company's operating profit rose to Rs. 152.73 crore in Q2 FY26 from Rs. 134.56 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. Its operating profit margin improved to approximately 15.8%, compared with 15.6% in Q2 FY25.
RailTel reported a consolidated net profit of Rs. 76.07 crore in Q2 FY26, against Rs. 72.64 crore in Q2 FY25, marking an increase of approximately 4.7% year-on-year. Earnings per share (EPS) also increased to Rs. 2.37 from Rs. 2.26 over the same period.
RailTel is a Navratna public-sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways. In addition to railway communications, the company provides optical fibre connectivity, telecommunications services, data centre facilities, cloud solutions and IT infrastructure to government organisations and other customers.
Its diversified service portfolio enables it to participate in digital connectivity and technology projects across multiple sectors. Government contracts, including the latest Haryana LAN project, form part of this broader business activity.
Railway modernisation is another potential growth driver for the company. RailTel participates in projects involving communications networks, station surveillance, digital systems and railway safety-related technology.
Its involvement in the railway ecosystem provides experience in executing large-scale network and technology projects. However, future opportunities will depend on the rollout of new tenders, government spending priorities and the company's ability to secure and deliver contracts. Announced railway modernisation initiatives will not necessarily translate into orders for RailTel.
The Haryana LAN contract provides RailTel with another opportunity to execute government digital infrastructure work, while its stock performance and quarterly financial results remain important indicators for investors assessing the company's business and market position.
