According to information, Saurabh, a resident of Fatehpur district, works as a truck driver in Kabrai to earn his livelihood. On Thursday evening, after completing his work, he was travelling on a motorcycle towards his rented house in Hamirpur along with his companion Raghvendra. When they reached near the mineral barrier on Kanpur Road, Dharmendra and three of his associates, who were allegedly waiting there, rammed their motorcycle into their vehicle.
Due to the collision, both Saurabh and Raghvendra fell on the road. Following this, the four accused surrounded Saurabh and dragged him to a nearby agricultural field. According to the victim, the accused used a scarf to create a noose around his neck, tied him to a tree, and repeatedly beat him with sticks until he became unconscious.
The viral video of the incident shows two accused taking the injured Saurabh away while carrying sticks in their hands. The accused reportedly fled from the spot before police reached the location.
Police Searching for Accused Based on Video Evidence
After the assault, Saurabh sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken by police to the Kabrai Community Health Centre. Due to his critical condition, doctors referred him to the district hospital for further treatment.
Police officials stated that the matter appears to be connected to an old rivalry. Based on the victim’s statements and video evidence, Kabrai Police Station has started efforts to trace and arrest the absconding accused.
Questions Raised Over Law and Order Situation in Uttar Pradesh
Two separate incidents of criminal intimidation and violence reported from Jhansi and Mahoba have raised questions over the functioning of Uttar Pradesh Police and the state government’s claims of establishing a crime-free Uttar Pradesh. Police officials have stated that strict action will be taken against those involved in criminal activities.
