Mumbai Doctor Leaves City Rush for Small-Town Peace, Chooses Free Home and Hospital Support Over Expensive Urban Life

A Mumbai doctor’s viral story reveals why she left the city’s expensive lifestyle, crowded trains, and stressful routine for a peaceful small-town life with a free 2 BHK apartment and hospital transport support. Dr. Garima Chauhan explains how choosing balance and comfort changed her perspective on success.

The growing pressure of expensive housing, exhausting commutes, and fast-paced lifestyles in metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai is prompting many people to consider smaller towns as an alternative. A video of a Mumbai-based doctor has gone viral on social media after she shared the reasons behind leaving the city and choosing a quieter life away from the urban rush.

The doctor’s journey has touched many people online as she explained how moving away from Mumbai transformed her life. Leaving behind cramped and costly accommodation and tiring train journeys, she chose mental peace, better living conditions, and a balanced lifestyle. She highlighted how her new workplace provided her with a free apartment and hospital transportation facilities, allowing her to experience a different quality of life.

Dr. Garima Chauhan wrote in an Instagram post, “As someone who deeply loves Mumbai, leaving it was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. It is my home. My family is there, and a part of my heart will always remain there.”

She further wrote, “But after six months, I finally understand why I made this decision. Sometimes success does not mean living in the biggest city. Sometimes it means choosing a life that gives you peace, time, and balance.”

In a video, the doctor shared a text message that read, “Despite being a first-generation doctor, why did I leave Mumbai for a small town?” She explained that people often ask her why she left a major city to settle in a small village. She said she had just returned from her workplace in a car provided by the hospital.

Dr. Garima explained that whenever there is an emergency, the hospital always sends a vehicle to pick her up. Comparing this experience with her previous life in Mumbai, she recalled how she had to wake up early every day just to catch an overcrowded train and stand throughout the journey.

She said that any unexpected delay during her earlier job resulted in salary deductions, making her daily routine even more stressful. According to her, this exhausting struggle was the primary reason behind her decision to leave Mumbai.

The doctor also recalled living with her husband in a very small rented apartment in Mumbai, which she described as being like a matchbox in size. The apartment cost them ₹30,000 per month in rent. In contrast, her new job offered her a spacious two-bedroom apartment with two balconies completely free of cost.

Dr. Garima Chauhan’s story reflects a growing conversation around changing definitions of success, where many professionals are reconsidering metropolitan lifestyles and prioritizing comfort, personal time, and mental well-being over the traditional attraction of big cities.
