In accordance with the revision schedule, a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties was convened under the chairmanship of Sh. Amandeep Singh Bhatti, PCS, Electoral Registration Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner, Union Territory, Chandigarh. During the meeting, the Electoral Registration Officer formally informed political party representatives about the publication of the Draft Electoral Roll and handed over copies of the draft to them.
The Electoral Registration Officer announced that citizens whose names do not appear in the Draft Electoral Roll may submit claims for inclusion along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents during the Claims and Objections period from July 21, 2026, to August 20, 2026.
He further informed the meeting that, in compliance with the directions of the Election Commission of India, the list of claims and objections received during the revision process will be shared with recognized political parties every week to ensure transparency and continuous monitoring of the electoral revision exercise.
Representatives of political parties were also briefed about the prescribed application forms available for various electoral services. Form-6 may be used for inclusion of a name in the Electoral Roll, Form-7 for deletion of a name, and Form-8 for correction of entries, change of residence, replacement of the Elector Photo Identity Card, and marking of the status of Persons with Disabilities. They were also informed about digital citizen services, including the Citizen Service Portal, the Saksham application for Persons with Disabilities, and the "Book a Call Request with Booth Level Officer" facility. Political parties were requested to appoint and reorganize Booth Level Agents in view of the rationalization of 575 polling stations.
The Electoral Registration Officer further stated that notices will be issued to electors who have not submitted the prescribed declaration during the Special Intensive Revision and to those whose electoral records contain anomalies requiring verification. Citizens seeking assistance have been advised to contact the Voter Helpline through the designated support service or use the "Book a Call Request with Booth Level Officer" facility available through the ECINET Mobile Application.
The revision process also provides an opportunity for young citizens who have attained, or will attain, the age of 18 years on or before July 1, 2026, to apply for enrolment by submitting Form-6 along with the prescribed declaration. Existing electors requiring correction of entries or change of address may submit Form-8 either through the ECINET Mobile Application or ECINET Portal, or offline through the concerned Booth Level Officer.
The publication of the Draft Electoral Roll marks a crucial stage in the electoral revision process, ensuring that every eligible citizen has an opportunity to verify, correct, or update electoral records before the final Electoral Roll is prepared, thereby strengthening the integrity, transparency, and inclusiveness of the democratic process.
