Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray Announce Mumbai March on July 26 Over NEET Protest and Alleged Police Action

Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray announce a Mumbai protest march on July 26 over alleged police action against NEET protesters and the paper leak controversy. The march from Shivaji Park to Siddhivinayak Temple will include Maharashtra Congress leaders, with no political flags displayed during the demonstration.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray on Thursday announced a protest march in Mumbai on July 26 to highlight the alleged police atrocities against student protesters and the concerns of students and parents over the NEET paper leak controversy.

Addressing a press conference, Uddhav Thackeray accused the government of being insensitive towards the protesters and said that students are no longer afraid of anyone. He questioned whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take responsibility for police personnel who allegedly assaulted students and tore the clothes of women protesters.

Uddhav Thackeray said he had spoken with Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, regarding the protest. He added that leaders from the Maharashtra Congress would participate in the march. Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress are part of the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra.

Raj Thackeray said the march would begin from Shivaji Park and conclude at Siddhivinayak Temple. He clarified that no political flags would be displayed during the protest. The MNS president said the government has been pushed onto the back foot as the student movement has gained significant momentum.

Mumbai has witnessed demonstrations in support of the student-led agitation by the Cockroach Janta Party in New Delhi. The protests intensified after Delhi Police used tear gas shells and batons on Parliament Street on Monday as thousands of protesters marched towards Parliament, where Members of Parliament had gathered for the first day of the Monsoon Session.

The July 26 march announced by Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray is expected to bring together opposition leaders, students, and supporters in Mumbai to express their concerns over the ongoing NEET protest movement and alleged actions against demonstrators.
