The Minister said that the Net Enrolment Ratio has improved in 2025-26 compared to 2024-25 across the Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary stages of schooling. The latest data indicates sustained progress in bringing more children into the formal education system while strengthening participation at every level of school education.
Mr. Pradhan also informed the House that the Gender Parity Index stands at 1.0 or above across all stages of schooling, reflecting the active participation of girls in the education system. The data underscores continued progress towards achieving gender balance in school enrolment nationwide.
Highlighting improvements in educational infrastructure, the Minister said the availability of essential facilities has increased across schools. These include separate toilets for girls, boys, and Children with Special Needs (CWSN), along with drinking water, electricity, and ramps equipped with handrails. He added that aspirational facilities such as internet connectivity and computer availability have also improved, enhancing the learning environment in schools.
The Minister further stated that Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) schools are being established as model institutions in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020. He informed the Lok Sabha that more than 13,000 PM SHRI schools have been set up across the country.
The latest UDISE+ 2025-26 data reflects continued progress in school enrolment, gender inclusion, infrastructure development, and implementation of education reforms, reinforcing the government's focus on strengthening the quality and accessibility of school education across India.
