Woman Assaulted in Guntur Water Dispute, Nine Arrested Including TDP Leader

According to the complaint filed by the victim, Mallela Venkataramana Murthy, his sister, and several others allegedly stripped and assaulted her during the confrontation that began over a dispute involving a water motor. Based on her complaint, Nagarampalem Police arrested nine accused in connection with the incident and initiated legal proceedings.

Reacting to the incident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the assault as deeply disturbing and directed authorities to take stringent action against all those involved. He emphasized that no individual would receive political protection and instructed officials to ensure that the law is enforced without bias or interference.

Following the incident and the subsequent arrests, the Telugu Desam Party suspended Mallela Venkataramana Murthy from the party. The action came after the allegations against him surfaced and police initiated proceedings based on the victim's complaint.

The incident has intensified public attention on crimes against women and reinforced the state's commitment to strict legal action, with the Chief Minister's directive and the party's disciplinary decision underscoring that allegations of serious criminal misconduct will not be shielded by political affiliation.
