Aamir Khan Receives Alleged Facebook Threat Linked to Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, Mumbai Police Verifying Viral Post
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan allegedly received a threat through a Facebook post linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Mumbai Police said no complaint has been filed by the actor or his team and is verifying the authenticity of the viral post before further action. The development follows Aamir’s recent remarks about “3 Idiots” and Sonam Wangchuk.
According to Mumbai Police, they became aware of the alleged threat through media reports. The police stated that they are currently verifying the authenticity of the viral Facebook post before taking further action. Officials have said that an investigation will begin after receiving a formal complaint from Aamir Khan or his team.
According to reports, the alleged Facebook post was issued by individuals claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi group. The post stated, “I am Aarju Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi (Lawrence Bishnoi Group). People who work against our country's culture and people like Aamir Khan who promote it in the name of ‘Love Jihad’, we will not tolerate this.”
The post further stated, “They will be answered very soon. This is against our Sanatan Dharma and our country. Those who promote such things in the name of stardom will not be spared.”
Mumbai Police reiterated that no complaint has been registered by Aamir Khan or his team regarding the alleged threat. Police officials said they learned about the matter through media reports claiming that the threat was issued through Facebook. Authorities are currently examining the credibility of the information and will proceed with further investigation after receiving an official complaint.
The controversy comes shortly after Aamir Khan’s statement at the London Indian Film Festival, where he clarified that his character ‘Phunsukh Wangdu’ from the 2009 blockbuster film “3 Idiots” was not based on educationist and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, “3 Idiots” featured Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi in lead roles. The film also starred Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, Mona Singh, and Omi Vaidya in supporting roles.
The film, presented through two parallel timelines — one set in the present and the other a decade earlier — revolves around the friendship of three engineering students and presents a critical reflection of patriarchal attitudes within the Indian education system. The alleged threat against Aamir Khan has now added another dimension to the actor’s recent public attention, with Mumbai Police continuing verification of the viral post.
