Faridkot Hospital Body Disposal Incident Sparks Sharp Criticism Over Punjab's Healthcare System

Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste Morcha Punjab Vice President Paramjit Singh Kainth termed the incident extremely shameful, inhuman and condemnable. He said the episode was not merely a case of administrative negligence but a painful reflection of the deteriorating healthcare system under the Bhagwant Mann Government in Punjab.

Kainth stated that the Punjab Government had projected a "Health Revolution" as one of its major achievements, but claimed that the reality on the ground presents a completely different picture. He alleged that negligence in hospitals, a shortage of doctors and medical staff, the unavailability of medicines and the hardships being faced by patients clearly demonstrate that Punjab's healthcare system requires genuine and fundamental reforms rather than slogans and advertisements.

He further said that every human being deserves to be treated with dignity even after death, and that it is the moral as well as legal responsibility of every civilized society and every government institution to ensure the respectful handling of deceased persons. According to him, the Faridkot incident is not merely the failure of one hospital but also raises serious questions about the functioning of the Health Department and the Government's oversight of public healthcare institutions.

The incident has intensified concerns over accountability and the standard of healthcare services in Punjab, with the criticism highlighting the need for responsible administration, institutional accountability and the dignified treatment of every individual, including the deceased.
