India-UK Free Trade Agreement Comes Into Force; Nationwide Celebrations Begin with Export Flag-Off in Kolkata

The India-UK Free Trade Agreement has come into force from today, with the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry launching nationwide celebrations across all States and Union Territories. A flag-off programme at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata will mark the dispatch of export consignments to the United Kingdom, commemorating the agreement's implementation.

 

The India-UK Free Trade Agreement has come into force from today, marking a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. To commemorate the occasion, the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry is organising a nationwide programme covering all States and Union Territories.

As part of the nationwide celebrations, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), in collaboration with the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the Customs authority, and other stakeholders, will organise a flag-off programme at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata this afternoon.

During the programme, export consignments will be dispatched to the United Kingdom to commemorate the commencement of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement. The initiative is being organised jointly by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, the Customs authority, and other stakeholders as part of the nationwide observance of the agreement's implementation.

The commencement of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement and the nationwide programmes being organised across all States and Union Territories underscore the importance of the landmark trade pact. The export flag-off ceremony in Kolkata symbolises the beginning of a new phase in India-United Kingdom trade relations and highlights the operational implementation of the agreement from today.
