New Suspect Emerges in Pune Realtor Ketan Agarwal Murder Case as Police Seek Extended Custody and Polygraph Tests
A new suspect has emerged in the investigation into the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal after police alleged he knew about the conspiracy before the crime. As Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary face a crucial court hearing, investigators seek extended custody, polygraph tests, and continue gathering evidence in the high-profile case.
According to the investigation, police have identified another young man who studied with Chetan Chaudhary and allegedly knew about the plan to kill Ketan Agarwal before the murder. Investigators claim that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary had discussed the conspiracy with him. Authorities are now scrutinizing his involvement and are expected to make further findings as the investigation progresses.
Meanwhile, Siya Goyal, 20, and Chetan Chaudhary, 22, are scheduled to be produced before the Vadgaon Court as their police custody comes to an end. The Lonavala Police are expected to seek an extension of their custody and request the court's permission to conduct polygraph examinations on both accused as part of the ongoing investigation. The hearing is being closely watched, as the court's decision on the custody extension and the proposed lie-detection tests could shape the next phase of the investigation.
As part of the continuing probe, police on Thursday took Siya Goyal to her residence, where they seized clothes believed to have been worn during the crime, a mobile phone, and other documents considered relevant to the investigation.
Investigators also escorted Siya to a café in Pune's Lullanagar area, where they believe the conspiracy to murder Ketan Agarwal was planned. Police recorded her statement at the location and carried out an inspection to verify electronic and other evidence linked to the alleged conspiracy.
The families of Siya Goyal and Ketan Agarwal had already fixed their marriage, and the wedding was scheduled to take place in November this year.
According to investigators, Chetan Chaudhary was unhappy with Siya's engagement and allegedly considered Ketan Agarwal an obstacle to their relationship. Police believe this motive led Siya and Chetan to allegedly conspire to murder Ketan.
The investigation has further revealed that the accused allegedly searched the internet for methods to kill Ketan Agarwal before executing the crime. Police also claim that Siya and Chetan visited Lohagad Fort together before the incident to rehearse the alleged murder. Investigators further stated that the two had prepared and practiced responses they intended to give if questioned by police after the incident.
The investigation has also uncovered details of an earlier alleged attempt on Ketan Agarwal's life. According to police, Siya Goyal allegedly tried to push Ketan from the cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 14. Investigators claim Ketan survived after managing to hold onto bushes along the edge of the cliff. Police further alleged that Siya then pretended to have spotted a snake in an attempt to divert attention and reassure Ketan following the failed attempt.
With the emergence of a new suspect, the recovery of additional evidence, and the anticipated court hearing on extended custody and polygraph examinations, the investigation has entered a crucial stage. The outcome of the proceedings is expected to play a key role in determining the direction of one of Pune's most closely watched murder investigations.
